Youth Conservation Camp


Due to COVID-19, For 2021 VASWCD is partnering with the VA Dept. of Forestry to offer Virginia Academy of Natural Resources. The Virginia Dept. of Forestry (VDOF) and the Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) are partnering to offer the Virginia Academy of Natural Resources(VANR) for current

8th -12th graders.

This camp will be held virtually, where campers will attend virtual live presentations in the morning and have exploration assignments in the afternoon.   

The VANR starts Monday July 12th- Friday July 16th, 2021.

For 43 years, the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts has sponsored a week long summer conservation camp for Virginia high school students (currently enrolled in grades 9-12 on the campus of Virginia Tech in the month of July. The program brings together about 70 interested students for a week of learning about Virginia’s natural resources from conservation professionals and faculty from Virginia Tech. Most of the instruction is hands-on and outdoors.


Youth Conservation Camp is open to all Virginia students enrolled in High School for the current year. Contact

Once accepted, campers will be asked to pay the $25 fee by May 31, 2021.  

More information will be sent to campers once they are accepted.
