District Operations Manager

The Colonial Soil & Water Conservation District (District) is accepting applications for the position of District Operations Manager. This full-time employment position will have the primary role of overseeing daily administrative operations of the organization to include serving the Board of Directors, supervising staff, financial management, and partner relations. The District Operations Manager will serve on the District Management Team which will be responsible for implementing the organization’s annual work plan and strategic vision.
 

A successful candidate will have a combination of education and work experience equal to a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, conservation, engineering, environmental science, natural resources, business or equivalent. Preferred 10+ years of progressively responsible budgeting, financial management, contract/program management, personnel supervision, administrative service management or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A successful candidate will have demonstrated accomplishments with complex problem solving and risk analysis; ability to develop, cultivate, and manage internal and external relationships; and provide clear and concise customer service in a positive and helpful manner.

A successful candidate will have experience and the ability to utilize computers, troubleshoot general issues and an have advanced knowledge working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Spreadsheets, Pivot Charts, Budget/Financial Worksheets, Power Point) and Quick Books software or a demonstrated willingness and ability to become an advanced user.

A successful candidate is expected to be well organized, self-motivated, and have knowledge of developing and managing an annual work plan. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Background check and drug screening will be required prior to any offer of employment.

An annual starting salary range of $68,000 - $88,500 is offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid sick and annual leave, paid holidays, participation in the Virginia Retirement System, and employer paid healthcare coverage. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and a completed VA State Application for Employment Form 10-012, to human.resources@colonialswcd.org. Completed applications must be received by January 19, 2024. A February to March start date is anticipated.
