Ruther Glen, Virginia—Jamestown High School placed first overall in the 2026 Area III Envirothon Competition, held at the Caroline County Agricultural Fairgrounds on April 16, 2026. The Jamestown team will go to the state competition at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia on May 17–18, 2026 to represent Area III as they compete at the 2026 Virginia State Envirothon Competition.

Envirothon competitions consist of five “in-the-field” test stations – soils, wildlife, aquatics, forestry and a current environmental issue — which challenge teams to answer questions in both written and hands-on formats. During an oral presentation, teams present their environmental solution to industry and natural resource professionals who serve as judges. The issue for the 2026 Dominion Energy Envirothon is “Non-Point Source Pollution: It begins at home!
