About the Course

The District has partnered with the James City County Stormwater & Resource Protection division and the James City County/Williamsburg Master Gardeners to offer county residents assistance with environmentally-friendly lawn care

The purpose of Turf Love is to help homeowners grow and maintain healthy lawns while preventing environmental harm through over-application of fertilizers or pesticides and preventing soil erosion. This is accomplished through homeowner site visits from trained volunteer Master Gardeners, known as Lawn Rangers, who discuss important lawn care methods with the homeowner, and measure the lawn and take soil samples to ensure accurate nutrient recommendations. After the soil sample results and homeowner goals have been evaluated, the homeowner will receive a certified nutrient management plan. This plan is specific to each homeowner’s lawn maintenance needs, goals, and surrounding environment; decreases the risk of environmental harm from routine lawn care; and often provides an economical benefit from reduced costs associated with over-application of nutrients

In this course you will learn the benefits and the process of the Turf Love program.
